Description
The first activity to initiate the Event Management process is to identify the services and systems in scope. Once the scope of the engagement is understood, the events and monitoring scope must be identified based on the business criticality of the same. The Event Manager should review the contract document and the Service Governance Plan(SGP) to understand the Event Management requirements and the agreed service levels. The technology configuration items which need to be monitored and the monitoring thresholds should be agreed. Once these are understood, a clear set of procedures, which are compliant with Capgemini standards as well as the contractual obligations with the Client, should be established. These procedures typically define the work flow, scope, measurements etc. for the Event Management activities to be carried out in the engagement. These procedures would be created by tailoring the Capgemini standard procedures for Event Management to meet Client / Service Engagement specifics. In addition to procedures, tools for enabling the Event Management process should be identified and setup in collaboration with the Service Delivery Environment Supervision Manager.
